*After Buddha’s final attainment of Mahaparinibbana, His 500 immediate enlightened disciples got together in the Sattapanni Cave and classified His teachings into three sections: Sutta Pitaka (Basket of Discourses), Vinaya Pitaka (Basket of Discipline) and Abhidhamma Pitaka (Basket of Psychological Teachings). In the Sutta study class, students together with the instructor will be able to read and discuss various discourses from the Majjhima Nikaya (Middle Length Discourses of the Buddha) for insights of the Buddha for a practical life.

Note: This is an ongoing class and anyone can join the class.

*Pali is one of the Indo-Aryan languages in which the Buddha is said to have spoken and taught His Dhamma to the people. Buddha-vacana (words of the Buddha) has been preserved in Pali in the Theravada Buddhist tradition. Although Pali is not a spoken language today, the essence of Buddha-vacana can be understood in this language. Therefore, this course is designed to help those who are keen to learn Buddha-vacana in Pali.
