Daily Monastic Routine for Resident Monks:  5.30 a.m. Wakeup, Meditation & Chant, 7.00 a.m. Buddha Vandana (Worship), 7.30 a.m. Heel Dana (Breakfast), 11.30 a.m. Buddha Vandana, Chant & Dana (Lunch), 3.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m. Spiritual Services & Counseling(by appointment only), 5.00 p.m. Administering of Blessings to lay people; 7.00 p.m. Public Buddha Vandana & Chant; 8.00 p.m. – 9.30 p.m. Meditation and/or Study, 9.30 p.m. Lights Out:   N.B. (Please have respect and do not call the Temple after 8.00 p.m. for appointments except in case of an emergency as House Rule and Obedience require all venerable monks to be present uninterruptedly at their common religious exercises at nightfall-  as members of a Religious House)

Daily & Weekend Services to the Public:  7.00 a.m.   Buddha Vandana (Worship), 11.30 a.m. Buddha Vandana & Chant; 7.00 p.m. Buddha Vandana & Chant; Special Poya Day Programs; Wednesdays 7.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Meditation Class (10th year) – Strict Silence to be observed throughout the temple premises during meditation sessions; Thursdays 7.00 p.m. – 8.00 p.m. & Saturdays 3.00 p.m. – 4.00 p.m. “Buddha’s Word” Sutta Class at the annex; Sunday Dhamma School ( 350 children, six levels, 10 classes & 18 teachers, the largest Buddhist Sunday School in North America); Each Sunday from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. except during the Summer Holidays.

Social, Educational, Cultural & Charitable Services: Youth Forum Monthly Meetings; Monthly Soup Kitchen in collaboration with Downtown Good Shepherd Centre conducted by the children of the Community, Chaplain Services to seniors and the terminally ill; Services to New Immigrants & Refugees, Networking for accommodation and jobs for new immigrants; “Rasanjali” Cultural Circle; Home of the “West End Children’s Choir” under the baton of Maestro Sarath    Kumarasinghe; Language Instruction: classes in Pali, Sanskrit & Sinhala; Family Counseling and Spiritual Direction: Before you go to your lawyer, contact your spiritual-advisor- monk!

  • Experienced Monks can talk to you on increased efficiency, performance and productivity focused meditation and provide Instructions to Company Executives and Professionals through Public Talks, Seminars and Meditation Retreats!
